MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) is a natural organic sulfur compound which is present in all living organisms. Sulfur is an indispensable element in the metabolism of every living organism.
Many protein compounds as well as the structure and solidity of cartilage, skin, hooves and hair depend entirely on sulfur content and its compounds. MSM is therefore used in cases of nutritionally induced symptoms of sulfur compound deficiency which can lead to joint and tendon problems in horses.
Sulfur is one of the most important components of collagen and is necessary, amongst other components, for joints, cartilage, tendons and ligaments.
Glucosamine is an amino sugar which cartilage, tendons and ligaments need as a basic element. Amongst other things, it stimulates the production of the body’s own building blocks for cartilage, proteoglycans and glycosaminoglycans.
Glucosamines also help the build-up and nourishment of cartilage, joint capsules, tendons and various other connective tissues. They can help preserve synovial fluids and thus maintain joint lubrication.
